Hi I’m Victoria and I run my homebased cake business Little White Cakery in Rushden. I make all sorts of cakes for all occasions and I teach beginner’s cake decorating classes and cupcake toppers along with my regular Cake Minds Monthly Modeller classes
I love all things sugar craft! I love that every cake I make is different, even if it’s a design I’ve made before. There’s always something new to learn and ways to grow as an artist. And I especially love the look on my customer’s face when they see their cake.
I have always worked in the food industry, working as a chef in pubs and restaurants since I was 16. I have been running my business since 2015, I was a stay at home mum to my four children, and I started baking in 2005, making my eldest Son’s 1st birthday cake and fell in love with it. I made him a fish shaped cake as he loved goldfish, it was a bit messy but I was so proud of it. I made cakes for all my friends and family after that. Then friends of friends started asking for cakes and it grew from there and once my youngest started nursery I decided it was time to take the leap and start the business. I now specialise in carved cakes. I love when people don’t believe it’s a cake. I try to make my carved cakes as realistic as possible, capturing all the little details.
I was part of the Sugar Witches display at Cake International 2019 and my piece was printed in Cake Masters magazine october 2019. I have taken part in a few ‘Cake Collective’ and ‘Sugar Junkies’ collaborations.
I love The cake community. I have made so many new friends through our shared love of sugar craft. Meeting up with everyone at the competitions is fantastic. I believe sugarcrafting has made me more confident. It has made me push myself and try things I would never have done before. Last year I entered the baking industry awards, celebration cake business of the year. I made it to the semi finals and had to drive four hours to the Renshaw academy in Liverpool and stay in a hotel on my own for the first time. I almost didn't go because I was so nervous but I’m very glad I did. I had a fantastic time and although I didn't win, I got lots of business advice and made new friends who I am still in contact with today.
I joined Cake Minds as an Accredited Teacher because I want to share the joy I get from creating with other people. To help others embrace their creativity and watch them grow, and make new friends along the way.
I am most proud of my owl cake from Cake International 2019. It got a Gold award and won 1st place in the carved category. It was my first Gold award at Cake International and to win the class was unbelievable!
Apart from sugarcrafting I am a qualified archery coach. I teach at my local archery club and have been shooting since 2012. I ran the London Marathon in 2015 and have done many other races including three walking marathons. I was injured last year and had surgery on my ankle but hope to do the Loch Ness marathon next year.
I sing with Rock Choir and have an allotment. I like to be busy!
