Combining Sugar craft and teaching are both things I am passionate about, just makes sense! I enjoy helping students learn and welcome everyone whether they are beginners or more experienced.
I run a cake business from home, offering bespoke celebration, novelty and wedding cakes. MySugarFairy Cakes is also a preferred supplier to a local hotel for their wedding packages. I love what I do, I feel honoured to be asked to make a cake for a special occasion. Cakes bring smiles to the recipients faces and make events special. In a way I share in the joy of their celebration.
I have been involved in sugarcraft since 2015, it all began with me making small sugar decorations as a hobby, learning and developing my skills over time. I look back and think if I can do this, anyone can. For the past few years I have run my business from home around caring for my elderly Mum-in-Law. Prior to my carers role, I taught adult I.T. night classes from beginners to advanced.
I adore sugar flowers, love making figures and experimenting with new cake decorating techniques. A regular competitor at Cake International I have won Gold, Silver and Merits in different categories, since first competing in 2016. I take part in many collaborations with cake friends and made my stage debut in the Cake Off 2018 at Cake International Birmingham, as a member of The Three Sugartiers, and more recently “The Live Championships” a two-day event at Cake International 2019.
I also regularly take part in sugar craft collaborations, via the internet and at Cake International, this gives me experience creating different models. Two years ago, I organised Bakers Donate a collaboration to spur bakers across the UK and Ireland to bake and donate to organisations in their own areas at Christmas, many including myself still do this at Christmas.
As a founding member of The Causeway Sugarcrafters, we meet once a month, I am always demonstrating techniques and helping to encourage & promote sugar craft.
In my free time, which isn't much time after caking! I like to go to the cinema, I love Bonsai, I like spending time with my hubby, even after 39 years of marriage. I hate country music! But don’t have a preferred listening genre either. I am an introvert by nature and like spending some time on my own switched off from the world too. Above all I am proud Mum to three amazing daughters and Grannie to eight lively grandchildren.

If anyone is looking to get into sugarcraft this is the class for you.
I have never done sugarcraft before, but from the moment I stepped into Geraldine's class I felt at ease, everything was explained to me from start to finish, from tools that I would need; to how to use them, nothing was to much trouble for Geraldine to explain.
The classes are small which means you have more time to be shown how everything is done, from how to work the paste to colouring, to different ways you can make eyes and mouth on your models.
I have fallen in love with these classes and sugarcraft so much so that i will be signing up for all of them.
I have finished the first 4 classes and cant wait to the next ones are started. I am doing this as a hobby but if you had a business this would be great for you as well x
Good for the soul
I absolutely love doing the Cake Mind modelling classes. The environment is welcoming and relaxed, plus our teacher Geraldine Lindsay is fantastic.
For those few hours every month, your mind is only fixated on your sugar model and nothing else, which I find to be calming and helps clear the mindset.
